Digg is Bigg! We have reviewed quite a few social media tools and community promotion software solutions similar to Digg (Pligg), but I think there are many things that Digg is doing right and they might keep a strong presence into the new era of social media and mobile social. Mobile community and geographical social awareness is on the way and it's only a matter of time before you drop into a starbucks and can say "hey" to a fellow digger identified by proximity. Will Mixx introduce new features that allow for a different user model and community than Digg?

So do you Digg?

Also to note that viewmy.tv create brandstation corporate social networks with proven technology used by blue-chip clients so they have the skills and experience. The brandstation technology allows users to rapidly organise their own space with an enterprise architecture. Two way participation and feedback. People like having groups and sharing, knowing who’s who, reading what and when. The brandstation platform is moving to an ondemand enterprise architecture that will allow companies to organise their components and users to manage their own space.

It is no secret that it is not just B2C sites that are making vast profits from social networking and web 2.0 technologies. B2B sites can also utilise social networking and social technology extremely successfully, creating a cutting-edge eternal social network or an interactive and sleek marketing and branding tool.

Viewmy.tv is inspiring the Internet TV and social platform industry and knows that clients want more cutting edge web 2.0 functionalities to be available for both internal and external media communication and have come up with the perfect solution. Brandstation is an extremely innovative, social platform that can either act as a collaborative tool internally, a corporate social network or an external platform that acts as an extremely effective marketing and branding solution.

For marketing and internal collaboration, a brandstation allows the business to take full advantage of web 2.0 features such as blogs, AJAX, forums, RSS feeds, tag clouds, shared calendars, wiki etc and creates an interactive and social environment for customers. It is a well known fact that consumers now expect to feel engaged and ‘apart of’ a brand, able to voice their opinion and feel they have a personal connection with that brand and ultimately influence.

This is an innovative and potentially huge piece of social technology that could change the way businesses and corporations communicate with staff and customers alike. It is a natural progression from our consumer site and hopefully another milestone in our mission to provide internet video platforms and revolutionary social technology to the masses.
It is time that businesses and corporations take note of the changing dynamic of the web and brandstation can offer the perfect client solution.

Please check out the site for a free demo http://www.brandstation.tv/brandstation.aspx

Google Friend Connect looks to be an enabling tool that will change the way the average website operates in 2010. It took a few years for the average website owner to adopt Google Analytics and now many self managed web sites have this tool installed.

Ok, yes I almost wrote "Social Brain" as I was just posting to the social blog. Social, social, social....

I just wanted to open up the discussion here on Second Brain. I like what I see thus far and look forward to more feedback. Any flaws and kudos due at this early stage?

I also noted and didn't mention in the blog post that there was a pretty strong presence on the private post actions. I think this is critical for anyone actually considering moving 100% to a online based tool for bookmarking.

So it's not quite where we want to be in terms of design - but the social media blog is now online and I'll be a social contributor. I like the discussion capabilities here for social topics and general social media discussion - http://www.socialmediamagazine.com/social-tags/. And the social media blog will make it easy for people to respond via comments quickly to other social media items highlighted online.

Social Media Blog - http://www.socialmediamagazine.com/social-blog/

Perhaps the blog will even spur some new social media discussion just like the main social media articles.

Mixx really is the most comfortable sharing and discovery site I've used in teh past year. Just think of it as Digg with the nasty people.

Give it a shot if you have 2 minutes to setup an account. There are also many great social media submissions and experts on Mixx. Wouldn't it be nice to have a few of them participating here with social media tips and articles.

I recently looked into the availability of social tools for popular cms systems and found some promising updates related to some major open source content management systems.

Best Open Source CMS Awards
1. Drupal
2. Joomla!
3. CMS Made Simple
http://www.packtpub.com/award

Best Open Source Social Networking Content Management System
Wordpress Wins
http://www.packtpub.com/article/wordpress-wins-best-open-source-social-networking-cms

Some additional advances
Drupal - Drupal 6 Social Network Distribution (a Ning like project)
http://groups.drupal.org/node/10468

Drupal - Social Networking Tools Group
http://groups.drupal.org/social-networking-sites

Joomla - Groupjive Social Networking Joomla Component
http://www.groupjive.org/

Elgg - Open Source Social Platform
http://elgg.org/

I'd also like to think that there are some developing third party platforms that will plan to support cms systems with API's or even simple profile and community functions that are script / cookie based.

Dallas on "Ning Private Networking Invite Privileges for Non-Admin Members"

Ning's business model is based on community marketing so even in a private model (where a group creator only wants selected members to participate) anyone invited can then invite others.

There is an option for the group creator to approve all new member requests but that's a little anti-social when your private group of 'best friends' doesn't get the model and invites 5 of her friends to join also. http://networkcreators.ning.com/forum/topic/show?id=492224%3ATopic%3A129657

The creators group on Ning addresses this issue with a CSS hack to hide the "invite" privilege for non-admin memebrs but the share feature still allows for an invite to be sent out. (I have not seen this share email but it's mentioned in the post)

The social networking features are really impressive but social group controls aer critical if I plan to create social networks for both my public and private groups and know that I'll be able to control the whole thing once it's actually working. The pricing for "above free" levels of bandwidth and space would seem to be enough justification for giving group creators this additional control and making this the ultimate social networking tool.
